The cantilever beam is subjected to controlled incremental displacement on the free edge. The mesh was created in Salome and converted to OOFEM input file via Unv2oofem convertor. The mesh contains 6931 nodes and 1188 quadratic brick elements. A downloadable zip file contains Salome's hdf file, unv file, OOFEM input file and the control file.
The animation shows the evolution of longitudinal normal stress. When plasticity surface is reached, the material yields. This becomes evident from a subfigure of a cross-section close to the fixed end of the beam. Note movement of neutral axis closer to bottom flange as plasticity proceeds. Also, beam necking is evident in the area close to the fixed end.
