+The animation shows the evolution of longitudinal normal stress. When plasticity surface is reached, the material yields. This becomes evident from a subfigure of a cross-section close to the fixed end of the beam. Note movement of neutral axis closer to bottom flange as plasticity proceeds. Also, beam necking is evident in the area close to the fixed end.
